The sidewalk cafes of Paris and the circle of friends that Hemingway met there is a central theme to "A Moveable Feast."
He did much of his most productive writing sitting in a cafe with his blue notebooks and a few pencils and a pocket knife to keep them sharp. The walk from his apartment or just a stroll through Paris to the cafe were stimulants for a good day's work.
His first published short stories were written that way and his beginning of "The Sun Also Rises" started there, too.
The painting is called "Hemingway's Paris," and is courtesy of Maranda Pleasant of Big Modern Art.

Hey I like this Hemingway's Paris and I remembered my time in Paris seeping coffee at the cafe and watching the Parisian's way of life goes by :D

I´m going to say without blushing (some big arrogance of mine you might think) that in Buenos Aires we have the same kind of cafés. Except cheaper and with palm trees included. And a whole culture of meeting around white ceramic small cups of coffee on linen table cloths.
Don´t take my word, just come and see it for yourself...

I was just thinking Paul, how would Hem have reported Paris, and what we have made of it if he'd been there 10 years or so later, say 1936 the time of the Front Populaire? It had changed mood again, as did the Berlin popularised by the Isherwood/Sally Bowles view of hedonistic free-fall gave way to the Nazis. Of course, Hem was in Spain, so he must have had a clear picture of a Paris being politically polarised between extreme left and right.
Anyway, I am still alive, but still no operation, so I guess I am still D.M.W. ....a very grim joke, that. Sorry.
