The Hemingways In Schruns
When the cold, damp, grey air of Winter hit Paris, the Hemingways would head to Switzerland or Austria for the dry cold air, the skiing, and a roaring fire in the lodge.
These photos are from Schruns, Austria, taken in 1925. Ernest, Hadley, and Bumby.

Vim and Vigor. Bumby was the only son I didn't get to meet.
You're very lucky!
Hey Paul!
Love that picture, what a fun moment. Not sure if I'd attempt skiing with a baby, though!
Hope your keeping warm!
Karla & Karrie
Amazing! Papa was going to get some pounds with the years; like almost everybody... ;))
Have a great Inauguration!

Hi Karla and Karrie, thanks for stopping by!
Hi Gil, are you still in India?
Great picture and history Paul!
I bet skiing was pretty reasonable back then...lift tickets now are 65.00-95.00 dollars a day to ski or snow board! Not including equipment or fashion wear;0)
I wonder what they would think of it?
Take Care,
KayEllen
Hello Kay Ellen, I'm sure that Hem wouldn't like the present setup!
I don't mind exploring these places with you ;)
Hello Shionge! Where do we meet?
xo
Hi Paul! TGIF!! ;)
I'm still posting on India (February 2008); actually the last of the Delhi's tombs... ;))
Enjoy and have a great weekend!
Hemingway looks very svelte in this photo! Wish that this happy family scene could have been maintained.
Paris would be nice, mid-point for you and me ;)
Hi Kate, yes, I know - he should have stayed with Hadley!
Shionge! Ahhh, I would meet you anywhere! But Paris would be a practical location :-)
Happy New Year!
I could tell from the baby's face that he was very cold!! :)

It's too cold to ski! They do like happy, don't they? My grandparents had very similar ski equipment, we used to climb the hill behind their farm and ski down. . .our own private Austria!
